John Mackie, a twentieth-century Australian (I think) philosopher,
wrote a book on causality called THE CEMENT OF THE UNIVERSE. I
haven't read it yet, but I've read a couple of Mackie's other books.
He is a clear thinker and a skilled writer, though a bit philosophically
orthodox for my tastes. It's on my reading list, and I intend to
pick it up next time I have a nice period of time in which I can
afford the luxury of seriously questioning causality.
