25 years ago I read a short science fiction story about critters which
lived on
a moon with a very thin atmosphere, so that the mean free distance
(between
molecular collisions) was a few kilometers. They had "eyes" which
consisted of
a sphere lined with olfactory sensors and a small hole, which acted like
a
pinhole camera. Truly smell-a-vision...
