This seems incorrect to me. You should see all of the flashes that overlap the time when the shutter is open. If the gun flashes are randomly distributed over the .11 second period, then you'd expect to see almost 90% of them. (All but the ones that start during the first .01 seconds of the .11 second period will last long enough to still be visible at the next opening.)
