My sister drives a Mack, I bought her a Delorme GPS receiver that plugs into her laptop computer, nice big screen. With Street Atlas 7.0, it should be less than $200, and has umptyjillion "points of interest"- basically you have a stripped-down yellow pages built in, with truckstop references under the "transportation" logo.
The POI's can be searched for within a radius up to five miles (as well as by name), and can be filtered by various types. Useful gadget, probably cheaper than a handheld standalone GPS (provided you have alaptop to plug it into, but you should be able to find a used pentium model cheap these days).
