That sounds like a great defense of your position until I notice how
often the criticism we receive comes down to wanting us to substitute their
"shortsighted opportunism" for our "shortsighted opportunism." I am very
happy with the performance of the U. S. in consistantly exercising
"enlightened self interest" instead of "shortsighted opportunism" but frankly
too often foreign countries when defending liberty are "willing to die to
their last American." The same motives apply to the suggestions we get in
the economic and other arenas. They are too often willing to prop up their
economies to our last American dollar.
