Well, this has really been a thread in AMerican history that is ongoing. My
take on the issue is that we American citizens control this country, and
that we ought to be able to control it.
There have in the past been many appeals to sentiment from the upper classes
in favor of immigration, as they always have been. "Upper classes" does not
mean only plutocrats. Merchants also want more people. Many Americans do
benefit from immigration, but certainly not a majority do benefit from
immigration in the numbers (and quality) we are currently experiencing.
The media get paid to tout immigration. They do so very well.
They do so with words, pictures, word choice, diction, tone of voice, and
placement of argument (in news "stories" that are actually in part
persuasive argument, albeit well disguised). You ask me how the news media
promote immigraion? As well ask how to enumerate the stars....
Tell you what--go to www.excite.com and search the news engine there for the
key word "immigration." Bring me the first 10 urls you get, and for every
negative connotation you find inside an immigration-oriented news story,
I'll find 5 positive connotations.

If you buy a used car jointly with 5 other people (including me), and I find
some strangers who will pay me, Randy Smith, 5 dollars a day to drive it
(which 5 dollars I keep for my own use, except I give 2 of the five to one
other partner(but not you)), is that a "bad thing." Not for me, it aint! And
not for the strangers who get a cheap car without the work needed to earn
the money to actually buy one.
How about for you?
Anyway, I could go on and on and on....but, what's the use? I have never
EVER seen anyone who cared enough about an issue to argue about it on the
Internet, be swayed in the slightest by another...
