Actually, none of the messages have actually been linked to any specific
group or message. They merely were written in Arabic which the researchers
couldn't read. In a culture where pornography and internet access can be
capital crimes, it is not surprising that there might be Arabic
steganography.
I agree with you that no researcher actually tapping into bin Laden's
messages would take this to the media for publication.
