You can write in any name. The bizarre thing I have learned is that they do
indeed ignore these votes. A side-effect of not doing hand counts is that
no one even looks at the write-in votes. Even if they say Gore or Bush,
they are not counted. It is assumed that there is no chance that the
write-ins are going to amount to anything, that they are ignored by the
system.
