If ecology/economy does indeed compute, you have me halfway
convinced. Computation/information seems to form the very fabric of
this universe (computational physics, entropy, upper limit on
complexity of physical processes, spacetime singularities), and this
would be extremely intriguing if it also constraints behaviour of
matter on the large scale.

Luckily this is empirically testable, by just watching the news over
the last decades.
