I am not a geologist, but some basic physics will do.
1. The continents you see on the maps are smaller than their associated
plates due to continental shelfs, some of which extend as far as 500
miles.
2. What goes down rarely goes up. Dense core material requires energy to
lift it, huge amounts of energy. Much more than the only internal
source,
radioactive decay.
BTW, I once calculated that to totally explode the earth (all matter to
escape velocity) like in Star Wars, required about 100 cubic kilometers
of antimatter. Anyone want to verify this??
