I think I will turn into an open standard.

I have this vision of turning at least part of my cognitive structure
into an efficient information gathering and organizing agent,
designed to work together with other agents of different types. It
would have the ability to adapt and evolve to suit the needs of its
clients, but no higher level goals other than being very useful.

Why would I want to create something like this from myself? The
answer is simply: almost guaranteed survival (my agent-selves would
be useful and adaptive, even in the ultra-competitive posthuman world
Eugene threatens/promises us with) and unlimited access to
information (my vision of heaven). A kind of digital nirvana, where
my agent-selves are intended to become mitochondrial analogs in
whatever posthuman minds will develop.

AndersVista, anyone?

Of course, just to be on the safe side I will also continue my
individual existence in at least one copy (likely a whole clan of
copies, closely interlinked into a small borganism). My guess is that
I will move to a software existence as soon as possible, but likely
retain physical presence just to be sure.
