Well Harvey, I hate to break in when you're on a roll BUT...
I have changed my mind about many things as a result of this crisis. I
am less idealistic and more hard-headed now. I used to lean more toward pacifism
where I now think that is unworkable, especially in the current mess. I believe
a lot more in the "transparent society" model than I use to. I believe in and
plan to be involved in protecting some liberties I consider even more important
than before including that contradictory right to privacy and especially through
cryptography. I have learned a lot in one short week about just how complex and
multi-leveled some of the regulars around here are and about the depth and
shallowness of a lot of people in my life on and off list. In some cases these
were definite changes and shifts, some of them fairly major.

So why are you seeing this as so much fuel to support cynicism?
