News media reported not too long ago that over 90% of Americans believe (or
said they believe) in god. If that statistic applies to reporters as well as
to the general public, then at least 90% of news is distorted through the lens
of religion. Since this deception is willful, I'd say you're right, it does
constitute fraud. Good point, and the fact that this is the equivalent of
theft is an even better point.
Debunking religiosity would alleviate the fraud and theft of the "news" media
by making theistic bias more obvious when religious memes contaminate "news"
stories. As things stand now, believers view what other believers report, and
only find fault when they disagree about each other's particular brand of
dogma.
It comes close to resembling drunks arguing about which flavor of alcohol
renders the clearest thinking.
