On June 9th, three employees of a small cafe in the Tallinn Old Town
had just finished their lunch and were returning the dishes to the
kitchen when a loud bang, as if a shotgun had been fired in the small
basement room, scared them half to death. The last of the three
employees saw a yellowish glowing sphere half the size of a football
about a meter and a half from her in the air just before the bang. The
sphere took a diagonal course toward the floor and shortly crashed onto
the concrete floor, thus probably creating the loud bang. The concrete
floor had a thin surface coating on it, which was removed by the blast
from a roughly footprint-shaped area with dimensions of about 28cm x
6cm. The concrete has been destroyed to a depth of about 3mm. The
head of a steel reinforcement rod - meant to strengthen the concrete - is
visible in the widest part of the "footprint", in other words the end of
the sphere's trajectory. Earlier, a witness has reported seeing sparkling
near the ceiling of the same room.
