You're not alone, Tom. The highest I succeeded in climbing Shasta was to ~10,000 feet (_only_ about 5,000 more feet to go ... ).

And Shasta must be one of the beautiful places on Earth to see the Perseid meteor shower (I saw the shower in August 1997 from there). I highly recommend it.
