This assumes that either your emotions control you, or you control your emotions. Get rid of the concept of being in control/out of control.
Emotions are like the wind, you can fight the wind, or you can let the wind toss you about. But if you are smart, you will build a sail and use the wind to take you to your destination.
You need learn how to get your emotions to work for you. You can use your emotions to become more creative and enjoy life. And you can do that by encouraging your positive emotions, and giving yourself positive stimulation.
