Review of longevity theories in Washington Post

The Washington Post Horizon section in today's issue devotes several
pages to a summary of prevailing theories relating to the concept of
programmed cell death. Carrel and Hayflick are covered, as well as six
other theories. There is the briefest mention of calorie-restriction
diets in the section on free radicals. At the end, it is suggested
that humans already gain cellular immortality via the transmission of
genetic material into offspring, but I doubt that suffices for most of
us!
