We don't actually adapt: we cheat, using technology.
It forms a hyperadaptive, insulating layer between us
and the harsh environment, homeostating the technowomb
within. Are you feeling cozy yet?

Now the interesting stage is when the encrustation with
technology becomes so heavy that we don't perceive it
as an external layer. When the prothesis becomes the
limb, so to speak.
