Em, the "greater scheme of things" may matter less then a vastly expanded
lifetime, if one considers that philosophically, permanent unconsciousness is
equal to value death. I am paraphrasing John Leslie from the University of
Guelph in Canada. You can read a bit of Leslie's writings on Nick Bostrom's
website. But I demur to you, what you consider, more valid.
