Ben, can you provide a link to this article? I'm not familiar with it, and
it would assist in following this discussion.

Not sure if it's written in Russian, but perhaps it isn't, or there's a
translation?

With respect to this debate, I'd favour the "two pronged"
approach; Working towards Singularity/Transcendence and at the same time
getting involved/driving more immediate/local efforts, even if those
efforts seem unrelated. Reminds me of the debates I've seen elsewhere
regarding "image improvement". I guess any group considering itself as
"outside" the mainstream asks itself these questions sooner or later.
