Something I don't generally buy, but I do support the notion that every
society has the right, and frequently exercises that right, to determine
its own road to hell. People get the government they deserve. The
morality of preemptive action is a far more relevant debate in this
instance.

The North waged war on the South primarily to provide cheap labor for
northern factories in the form of 'freed' slaves. The moral stance
against slavery was merely a glossy coating to gain the support of the
religiously scrupulous, and the Union was needed to be preserved to
prevent problems with labor migration that international borders often
impose.

Well, I don't fawn over any cultural conservative, or kooks, and I
despise Pat Buchanan. So you need to come up with another theory...
