This experiment assumes a material nature of consciousness, and
falls by reasons of the many objections to mind-brain identity theorists.
If (self-referential) consciousness is actually the infinite-state feedback
loop between the brain and environment via the missing/ phantom pineal
sensor(gan) as MVT makes clear, then the material reconstructions of
neurons would not by themselves work.
You would somehow need to replicate the evolutionary & embryonic processes
that led to (material) brains being able to manifest virtual/ phantom sense
....
