Extropes,
About a year ago I found this article,
Gene therapy reverses heart disease in mice
at
http://www.eurekalert.org/releases/aha-gtr020200.html
The way the story reads leaves the impression of a near cure of
atherosclerotic plaque build-up vasculature-wide. I reread it a year after
I first ran across it, and was very, very impressed. So impressed in fact
that I was skeptical that it was 'too good to be true'. I dashed off an
email to the contact person at the American Heart Association, asking about
what further progress had been made, thinking that if it was as good as
they said, then there must be widespread excitement about this news. (One
of the reasons for my skepticism was that youd would expect something this
promising to be making headlines everywhere--if it were genuine-- but I
hadn't seen or heard anything.) The reply I received was completely
vacuous, so I still have no clue as to wheter it's real or hype.
