Touche, touche! However, I think we're deeply biased to value
processing power as an end in itself. As heterotrophs, and
omnivorous ones at that (we both run away from and chase other
heterotrophs), we're addicted to speed -- thinking and acting
as quickly as possible with respect to events around us.
