I'm also a fan of Austin's book (which is now out in paperback, BTW.) It is quite a read, though. I very quickly reached the "jumping around from chapter to chapter" stage, trying to get the gist. I'm sure I haven't read it all, but I've probably read 40 - 60% of it.
A while ago, I started a project of summarizing each chapter in a few paragraphs, from start to finish. I haven't got very far with this project, however, but I think it would be worthwhile.
We have a lot to learn yet about the brain.
