Well of course, if they saved the state and continued when they came
back up, we'd never be any the wiser. Part of the beauty of it - there
could be any amount of manipulation being done to the simulation, and
we'd never be any the wiser.

Unlike in _Matrix_, it would generate no screen glitches and deja-vu.
