It doesn't have to be commercial *or* government. I've been pressing all
along for tasks so critical to an *international* infrastructure to be
operated by non-commercial independent bodies.
Remember, I said *international*. The US government (commonly referred
to as 'the government', but AFAIK this is a global mailing list) has no
business controlling it.
(specifically, .com, .net and .org are for international use - the US
government has a right to choose who regulates .us)
