I know some of you will be looking forward to the X-Men movie. Special
effects technology has finally made it possible to do this one right. The
trailer suggests the movie might be decent:

Although I haven't read X-Men comics in many years, I was a big fan from
over 20 years ago, long before they became popular. For transhumanists not
familiar with the X-Men and who are wondering why I'm mentioning this
movie... The X-Men are mutants with superpowers, guided by the benevolence
and brilliant Professor X to protect regular humanity, especially from the
evil mutants. [Translation: Early benevolent posthumans protect humans from
rogue AIs and malicious superintelligences??]
I see that on TV there's a new series (I forget the name) about a
superhuman species that preys on humans, with the tag-line "evolution
sucks". That made me cringe. I'm hoping the X-Men movie will boost the
image of genetically advanced beings.
"We're not what you expect."
Onward!
