Right now that would be an effective weapon, but by the time we can build an interplanetary warship that will have changed. Your missile defense lasers will pick off those bullets at whatever range you can detect them at (probably at least a few thousand miles). Also, even at 10-20km/sec they won't penetrate diamondoid armor very well.

That's why I tend to expect directed energy weapons of some sort to dominate - they are difficult to defend against, and most types don't run out of ammunition.
