"A 'Frankenstein' is any creation that ultimately destroys its creator." I'm very interested in psychology, but I'd rather not attempt to psycho-babble whether or not the death of her mother caused her to feel as if she was such a creation.
It is interesting that _Frankenstein_, was published when she was 20 years old. I haven't read _The Last Man_ (1826), which reveals her liberal social outlook; and perhaps her autobiography, _Lodore_, might shed some light on how her mother's death affected her.
