I'd like to see image filter plug-ins applied as effects to tile
backgrounds in realtime.

Can this be done with Java?

Does anyone know of an off-the-shelf library of functions for
animating tile backgrounds, particularly in real time?

On this page, I used the "Ripple" plug-in. I'd like to run the
plug-in from a web-browser, and modulate the background tile waves in
real time.
