It might not work for anyone else because of Yahoo's session
cookies and such, but I'll describe what I did:
First, using Galeon (a Mozilla variant) with Sun's Java VM installed,
I browsed to the chat applet in the usual way. It comes up, but is
too small to be useful. If you can't get that far, then you won't be
able to get any further. From that page, I did a "view source" and
looked for the <applet> tag. I cut that entire tag and its contents
into a text file, then manually edited the "height" and "width"
parameters to reasonable values (640 x 480 is good). I put some
minimal HTML code around the tag so it was a valid page, and put that
page on my server. I then typed the URL of that new page into my
browser--the same browser session I was already using.
If it doesn't depend on the Yahoo login and session cookies,
then using the JDK's appletviewer might work. I'll have to
experiment with that when I get home tonight.
