Poverty for blacks lowest since '59
The poverty rate for blacks in '00 as measured by the Census
Bureau, was the lowest since the agency began tracking such data.
About 7.9 mil were considered poor in '00 vs 8.4 mil in '99. Also
the '00 median income of black households was $30,439 up 5.5% from
'99.
