How do you know what the decendents of the builders of Nan Madol did?

I'm more inclined to think it's the old marketing maxim: "Location,
location, location". Pohnpei is smack in the middle of nowhere, but
Stonehenge is very accessible to millions of people.

Yeh, but I think the point is made .... *why* is Stonehenge, on a
distant moor on a remote northern European Island now the centre of
massive civilisations, and Pohnpei "smack in the middle of nowhere."
Maybe there is a link between the druidic/ pagan ethos of the Stonehenge
people and the (more passive?) spiritual and cultural beliefs of the
people who built Pohnpei. I happen to think trends in culture turn around,
and who is not to say that in 100 years time this position has switched?
