An excellent philosophical work on identity (that supports what Eliezer and
I say) is Derek Parfit's classic book "Reasons and Persons".

You may think my argument is "sleight-of-hand". However, I suggest you
retract the "gibberish" comment. The "cult movement" comment is
unnecessarily insulting and bordering on libelous. Given your tone, I will
not attempt to argue with you on the topic of identity. I agree with
Eliezer's comments, except that in certain situations (e.g. when copies are
made) I would dump the term "identity" and talk about survival of a person
in several new individuals.
