More seriously:
Yes, your statement is correct if the time really was *wasted*.
But just because you *took* a lot of time getting to the right answer for a
certain problem, doesn't mean you *wasted* a lot of time.
It may be that with your computational resources, the problem was hard.
It also may be that, for some problems confronting any particular finite
goal-driven system, a "generate hypotheses, guided by nonrational emotions,
and then test them" methodology may be the MOST efficient way to arrive at
an answer.
Explicitly following a "decision tree" and "logical thinking" oriented
process is only the optimal strategy for certain types of problems, in
certain types of situations.
