poly: will the super-rich sponsor projects?

The question may be as simple as marketing. I've dabbled in an approach
that could, in theory, persuade the super rich to invest in big, bold
projects. I think they'd do it, if shown rational choices among endeavors
that stand a reasonable chance of fostering their own immortality, wither
in the extropian sense or in the old fashioned sense of being remembered
like the Medicis and Julius II... for the great things they sponsored.
