But presumably there's a difference between a small population copying
advanced techniques, and the whole world, or even the leading edge,
discovering even more advanced techniques. And then there's the issue of sunk
costs in current capital and infrastructure. Even if electric cars were as
good as gas cars today, there would still be the slight detail of replacing
all the gas stations.
