It might be that all the interesting stars have been dyson sphered
already or some such, and that the few remaining outside are just
remaining for some unfathomable reason (this might explain the "dark
matter" problem), or that what we think of as natural phenomena that
seem odd (like quasars) are in fact manifestations of living
activity. However, all this *seems* unlikely. After all, we'd expect
*some* activity in our own solar system (for example).
