linux on acer's 340T laptop

Acer has come out with a very nice notebook (PIII 450/6.4 gig hd/12 inch
tft/3 hour battery/24xcdrom/4 lbs/1 inch thick).
I dispatched messages to linux groups and to acer to see if anyone has
had any luck putting linux on it, apparently to no avail.
Last resort: has anyone seen or contemplated putting linux on this machine?
