In which case you distinguish "potentiality" (or "possibility") from
"actuality". "Causality" is a relation useful for describing observed
connections among actualities (c.f. "covariance" and "correlation").

A "potentiality" cannot be regarded as a necessary or sufficient
condition for an "actuality" but only an assertion of the possibility
of the latter. E.g., "at 14:23 Z 01 Jan 2000 the probability of X
being at point Y is 0.98". I might also add, if X is at Y at t, then
Z.

What would you call the relation, if any, subsisting between any
potentiality Q and some actuality R?

Happy Holidays,

Bob
