        The National Academy of Sciences Report "A Science Strategy for the
Exploration of Europa" has just arrived -- a month earlier than I thought it
would. You can find its entire text at

I've just started reading it --
but the big news so far is that it officially recommends that Europa
exploration be given equal priority with Mars exploration from now on.
        
I imagine this report will serve as the starting point from now on
for all of our own speculations on Europa exploration. From this point on,
all our previous analyses are somewhat obsolete. Certainly it will have a
very major impact on NASA's planning; these NAS reports always do.
