The problem with this theory is that HIV-1 (the one we're mostly worried
about) is a descendant of a chimp virus, and chimps were in no way involved
with making polio vaccine. There has been some discussion of the relevance
of a monkey cell used for some vaccine production (I forget which) but that
could only have spread HIV-2, and only if that monkey is the HIV-2 source.
