I agree on all points. An insurance policy is wise, though.

I want to see the day when this planet is turned back into the park it once was,
and we live in an even better place. Then we watch to see which creature next
develops sentience and spikes. The post-spike party would be something to see.
It would be hard not to intervene in the development of a species.
And that makes me wonder how many times other civilizations have developed on
this planet. It's possible.
