I have no intentions of getting into another flamewar on religions,
but I would like to point out that intelligent beings definitely will
have belief systems in the sense of having values and making estimates
of likeliehood and utility of various concepts based on imperfect
information. An AI might believe (based on its values and
interpretations of its experiences) that it is good to do certain
things and bad to do other things, even if an outsider would consider
this thinking religious.
