Adding someone to an email distribution list does not in
any way resemble "free speech"; it is harassment, and theft.
Freedom of speech applies only to the /content/ of speech;
it does not in any way allow you to force someone to listen.
If you want to get your point across, then publish a paper,
create a mailing list, put up a web page, advertise it in
the appropriate forums. But sending strangers unsolicited
email is usurping their computing resources and time, and
does not deserve the respect due true free speech. If
anyone was subscribed to the list without their permission,
the eGroups can and should disable their account and take
further punitive action if appropriate.
