I have to admit that I laughed out loud (maliciously) at that. All
those poor sods getting clouded out at the eclipse- reminds me of
"All Summer in a Day" by Bradbury...

(I first read that story when I was eight years old, living in
Belgium, and seeing sunlight- so it seemed- about every third
Tuesday. I felt Margot's pain, let me tell ya.)
