Actually, ergoloid mesylates, "hydergine", is pretty effective in lowering
blood pressure for about 50% of people who take it. It also lowers heart
rate for about the same number. I get about a 20 point drop in blood
pressure and 10 beats per minute drop in heart rate at 20mg. per day. My
experience dates from about 1978 to present, with occasional gaps.
Unfortunately, although the generic can be gotten at a reasonable price from
foreign sources, the U.S. brands are fairly expensive.
