Given the theoretical work that has been done in the last decade, I'm
expecting to see the tissue engineers growing real blood vessels in their
cultures within a few years. Nerve growth doesn't seem to be as well
understood, but it still seems liek a fairly reasonable bet for the 5-10
year time frame.
This whole field seems to be advancing at a rate previously seen only in the
electronics industry.
