First, there are the 'preferences settings' like the body weight
setpoint and hormone levels that would be useful to be able to
control. Then there are the various behavior systems: the fight or
flight response ("Do you really want to become angry? (Y/N)"), sexual
behavior (including preferences and drive) and of course diurnal
rhythm. In neighboring midbrain areas there are stuff like anxiety
(bed nucleus of stria terminalis), fear (amygdala) and pain control
(periaqueductal grey), as well as the really exciting/dangerous stuff
in the basal forebrain (attention, relevance memory signals) and
monoaminergic systems (general mood modulation, reward, alertness). A
lot of things I would like a good user interface to handle, even if
some of it should be kept away from children...
